Hey students! Looking for something worthwhile, fulfilling and community oriented for the summer? Well the Ottawa Riverkeeper has posted a few summer internships on their website, so here’s your chance!

All jobs required that the candidates must be eligible for Canadian Summer Jobs funding and/or Young Canada Works.

Water Quality Intern

As Water Quality Intern you will be conducting water quality testing on site with community members in order to educate all ages on the importance of protecting our water sources and ensuring its sustainability. The Water Quality Intern will work on Ottawa Riverkeeper’s project to improve water quality by mobilising the community to get involved in diverting and reducing the presence of harmful substances and plastic waste by assisting with shoreline clean-ups and other outreach activities on-site. You will also be involved with our Citizen Science Hub, training recreational water user groups on how to collect and analyse water samples. You will educate participating groups and communities about which factors impact water quality, such as the effects of sewage overflows. The Water Quality Intern will also be responsible for updating the Swim Guide, an app used by the public throughout the summer.

These outreach efforts are aimed at many different age groups, from young summer campers to community organizations, and at Francophone and Anglophone participants. During these events and workshops, you will need to communicate information clearly in both official languages to ensure increased accessibility.
