Winter Ecology Walk: Identifying Trees and Animal Lives

December 9, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Come join naturalists Nikki Satira and Bryarly McEachern for an amble through the woods to explore winter ecology- an often overlooked world of natural wonder! This field walk will be a mix of investigating how animals live in winter, tree identification without leaves, tracking, and other marvels we find in the forest. Where do insects spend winter? How do animals move through deep snow without snowshoes? Which birds stick around? How can I find a sugar maple to tap? These are some of the questions that might arise along the way, and we will finish off with some warm winter tea.

This field walk is a great opportunity to get some exercise and fresh air while deepening your appreciation and knowledge of the winter world. This event is geared for adults and children 10+
