Montreal has a small but committed river surfing community, and they’re about to get a lot better!
Surf 117, set to open this summer, will be the “first outdoor pool dedicated to surfing in Canada.” The site will consist of two basins, each 200 meters long, that will produce meter-long waves that can sustain a surfer for up to 25 seconds!
SURF117 reinvents nature and gives you the opportunity to glide on a wave reminiscent of the ocean 1 hour from Montreal
The outdoor pool is in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, just one hour north of Montreal, or about two and a half hours from Ottawa. It will be the latest addition to L’Experience Boréale adventure and outdoor center, which also offers tent camping, ready-to-camp cabins, and trailer camping.
Prices look like they’re going to run about $60/hour ($50, if you’re also camping there)
It’s a bit of a drive from Ottawa, but you could tent out overnight and make a weekend out of it to really hone your surfing skills before taking the plunge into the frigid Ottawa River!
