    The NCC has announced that the entire 7.8km length of the Rideau Canal Skateway opened this morning.

    The timing is perfect, since a number of activities for the NHL All-Star Weekend, January 26 through January 29, will take place on and around the Rideau Canal Skateway.

    Conditions were very good, nice layer of powder over a good base. Slight crusty layer was more noticeable in the southern portion of the loop (near P15), almost non-existent in the northern portion (near Carman lake).
