World Rivers Day Flotilla from Victoria Island, Sept. 25
September 21, 2011 in paddling by Dave
In celebration of World Rivers Day and to launch the fifth and final segment of the Great River Project, Ottawa Riverkeeper is hosting Paddles Up! With Ottawa Riverkeeper.
The event begins at 11:30am this Sunday with a Fire Ceremony conducted by guest Peter Decontie, Sacred Firekeeper of the Algonquin Nation, followed by some speakers and experts on the Ottawa River. But the main event is the flotilla: bring your boat or reserve a spot in a 10-14 person Voyageur canoe and paddle from Victoria Island to Kettle Island and back!
