Cross Country Skiing by Bus
February 22, 2011 in xc skiing by Dave
Ottawa has a huge and dedicated cross country skiing community and loads of trails to explore, but a lot of it seems inaccessible without access to a car. Kalle Hakala has put up a great post over at SpacingOttawa.ca on how to take the OC Transpo and STO busses to a handful of cross country ski trailheads around Ottawa.
Ottawa is blessed with three publicly-accessible cross-country ski trail networks within 15km from downtown: Stony Swamp, Mooney’s Bay, and the unparalleled Gatineau Park. As I have recently discovered, each can be accessed relatively effortlessly via public transit.
Kudos to Kalle for removing an obstacle to getting outdoors and doing some skiing! Read the full article on Bussing to Gatineau Park and other xc areas here.
